Green Tea & Weight Loss

There are three types of tea: green, black and oolong. While all three types of tea are associated with an abundance of health benefits, green tea is reported to have a significant effect on weight management . Green tea is processed differently before consumption in that green tea is made from unfermented tea leaves, so it reportedly has the highest concentrations of polyphenols, or powerful antioxidants. These antioxidants help fight and neutralize free radicals which are key contributors to the aging process and the development of a number of health problems including cancer and heart disease.

The latest research being conducted on green tea is studying its effects on weight management and fat loss. Studies have shown that individuals who consume green tea or green tea extract have lower percentages of body fat and a healthier BMI. Green tea contains the highest concentration of the polyphenol catechins which are specifically linked to the reduction of body fat. Catechins are linked to the stimulation of the body to burn calories and decrease fat. Drinking just one cup of green tea or taking a fat burner complete with green tea and other vitamins and minerals can stimulate the body to burn up to 90 extra calories without doing anything different.

In addition to burning fat, Green tea extract has been shown to inhibit digestive lipases, the enzymes that aide in the breakdown of fats in the body, which in turn will prevent the absorption of fat. This alone decreases the amount of fat our bodies will store.

Apart from its fat reducing qualities, green tea also boosts metabolism through a process call thermogenesis. Thermogenesis helps boost the body’s basal metabolic rate, thus resulting in a solid metabolic boost
